Agent Sandbox is split into the pieces below, each released on its own. The CLI and the Python SDK ship only the alicloud-express provider.
abx CLI
@agent-sandbox/cliCreate sandboxes, run commands, move files, build and deploy templates, all from the terminal. It also serves MCP so a coding agent in your IDE can use sandboxes directly.
- create, list, info, kill, exec, connect, upload, download
- abx template: search, install, build and publish templates
- abx mcp: write the Cursor, Claude or VS Code config, or start a STDIO server
- Node.js 20+, plus single-file binaries for macOS, Linux and Windows
npm install -g @agent-sandbox/cli
abx create --template basePython SDK
agent-sandbox · agent-sandbox-serverAn async client that runs on your machine: Sandbox.create, commands.run, run_code, files, ports, session persistence and the @sandbox declarative decorator. agent-sandbox-server is the HTTP service inside the sandbox image.
- Three ways to execute: shell, code interpreter, named commands registered in the template
- Provider plugins installed from the Registry with the providers command
- Two lock-step packages, Python 3.10+
- E2B-shaped method names for easy migration; not a protocol-level replacement
pip install agent-sandbox
# install agent-sandbox-server inside the sandbox imageNode.js SDK
@agent-sandbox/sdkAn ESM client for Node.js 20+. The first slice is implemented: the mapping between config names and environment variables, and ServerClient for the agent-sandbox-server inside a sandbox.
- Does not include Sandbox.create or cloud providers yet
- To create cloud sandboxes keep using the Python SDK or abx
npm install @agent-sandbox/sdkTemplates
awesome-templatesA template says what is inside the sandbox: template.yaml, a Dockerfile, and commands.py which registers named commands in the image. The public catalog has Python, browser automation and several coding-agent runtimes.
- abx template install builds and registers it on Express
- Every template ships a README and an end-to-end test
- Filter by name, tag and capability on the Registry
abx template install alibaba-agent-sandbox/awesome-templates//python-helloProviders
awesome-providersA provider decides which backend the sandbox runs on. The catalog has OpenSandbox, E2B, CubeSandbox and the Alibaba Cloud container edition, each declaring the capabilities it supports.
- A manifest abx-provider.toml plus a small program, three runtimes: rest, exec, python
- Packages carry a sha256 and install only copies files
- An undeclared capability fails before any request is sent
python -m agent_sandbox.providers install registry:opensandbox --yesRegistry
registry.agent-sandbox.cnTurns templates, providers and every repository's docs into a browsable, searchable catalog, and serves the machine-readable index the SDK reads. It stores no cloud keys and never creates a sandbox for a visitor.
- Chinese and English pages with site-wide search
- providers/index.json and reproducible tar.gz packages
- Publish guide: open a pull request to be listed
